Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees include Joan Jett, Beastie Boys

From a list of 15 nominees, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will accept five of the best musical acts to enter the Cleveland museum’s hallowed halls as honorees in October. This list contains some of the best 1980s acts, including Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, the Beastie Boys and the Cure.
The list inspires outrage and anger and angst among music fans every year, sparking heated battles over who did and didn’t make the list. “What a joke!! The Spinners? Chaka Khan? Donovan? THAT'S NOT ROCK N ROLL! This list is a joke,” writes one local Cleveland commenter.
Another oft-referred to point of anger is the absence of the band Rush. BlogPost reader Jamison wrote in to say, “Stopped paying attention to RR Hall after they have passed on this band so many times. Until Rush is put in, they have no legitimacy. Ask any musician from any band on your list.”
